The St. Cloud Police Department arrested a former state representative after an altercation with an Osceola County school board member at a restaurant.According to St. Cloud PD, Mike Horner was arrested overnight for battery against Jon Arguello, an Osceola County school board member.St. Cloud PD said the incident occurred at Fat Boy's BBQ restaurant during a political fundraising event.Arguello said there were tense moments after he walked inside the restaurant, and Horner told him that he didn't belong there. Arguello said he decided to shoot a video, and that was when things got physical. He recorded the video of the incident and posted it on Facebook."In my phone, I see Mike jumping out of his chair and coming around the table, and then he attacked me. He tried to wrangle the phone out of my hand, and he kind of did a glancing blow that hit me in the neck and collarbone and wrangled over my phone," Arguello said. According to officials, Horner had his first appearance in court Saturday and was given a $2,500 bond. He was ordered by a judge to have no contact with the victim.Honer is charged with battery on an elected official and can face up to five years in prison, according to St. Cloud PD. Arguello, who is running for state Senate, said that Horner is a political opponent of his.The two have clashed in the past."This was not a fight over words that we exchanged that day. This is a fight that has culminated after three years of me fighting against corruption," Arguello said.In 2022, the Osceola County School Board voted to reprimand Arguello after he was accused of intimidating Horner, who was a school board lobbyist at the time, to contribute to his sister’s campaign, who was running for a seat on the school board. Horner's attorney accused Arguello of engaging in hostile acts beyond the scope of his duty on the board.
